About FAST Riding School
We take you to the next level
At FAST you gain a better understanding and improved control of a motorcycle, to become a better and safer rider while increasing your riding pleasure. We do not teach you how to ride a motorcycle: you must know the basics before you join us at the track. You do not need a motorcycle street riding licence to take our courses.
We teach in a racetrack setting, which gives controlled and safe conditions in an environment that mimics highways and roadways. Michel Mercier started the school in 1987, and in the last 40 years we have helped over 25,000 motorcyclists become better and safer riders.
Is this for you?
The only requirement is that you know how to ride and shift gears on a motorcycle. We give personalized instruction to advanced riders as well as to riders with little experience, one-on-one and at your own speed, while you have fun on a racetrack. Whether you are young or old, a sport bike rider or a touring enthusiast, a new rider or a rider with years of experience, we will teach you to ride more safely and with more confidence in a controlled, structured environment.
- You might just want to try riding on a racetrack. If you have never ridden on a racetrack, FAST is a safe environment to experience it for the first time, with proper instruction and more than 30 years of racetrack teaching experience.
- You might already do track days. If you have never taken one of our courses you may find it hard to bring your lap times down. We help you gain confidence, increase your speed and ride more smoothly. Many track day riders add Phase 2 on the 7-turn Nelson track, Phase 3 on the faster 10-turn Pro Track and Phase 4 on the Long Track to their calendar.
- You might want to race. At the end of your courses you receive a certificate that brings you closer to a racing licence. Check with your local racing organization for its requirements.
Our instructors
All instructors are past or current Pro racers with a vast knowledge of advanced motorcycle riding skills. On a school day at least five instructors teach and coach you through every step of your course. Our mechanic prepares our fleet of 245 school motorcycles so they are in track condition. Meet the team.
We run rain or shine
There is always something to learn on a wet or dry track. Most riders are uncomfortable in the wet because they seldom ride in the rain, and with our guidance a rainy day is a good chance to improve your confidence. A FAST course is not cancelled because of the weather; track sessions may be delayed if heavy rain is present.
FAST certificate
A FAST Riding School certificate is given after each course (phase). With it you can register for track days with other organizations, and you may buy a road racing licence if you want to pursue a racing career. Phase 2 also gets you closer to a racing licence.
