Daily schedule
Advanced riding courses run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. We run rain or shine: a FAST course is not cancelled because of the weather, although track sessions may be delayed if heavy rain is present.
Phase 1
- 7:45 to 8:30 a.m. Registration.
- 8:30 a.m. Classroom session. The chief instructor starts the day with a one-hour in-depth presentation and discussion on riding techniques and skill development, to help you ride with precision, style and safety.
- 9:30 a.m. Suiting up and group division. The class is split into three groups of 9 to 12 riders: conservative and less experienced riders, intermediate riders, and more speed-oriented, experienced riders. Each group has its own experienced instructor. You then get dressed in full leathers, gloves, boots and helmet.
- 10:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. On-track sessions. Each session focuses on techniques discussed earlier in class, from easiest to most advanced. You start by riding behind an instructor to learn the track, the motorcycle and a few techniques. Your instructor then watches you from a corner and takes notes and video while you ride laps with your group, and gives you feedback right after each session. Passing is allowed in designated areas where it is considered safe.
- About 12:15 p.m. Lunch.
- 5 p.m. Final meeting. A discussion, an award presentation, graduation certificates and souvenir sales.
Each on-track lesson has three parts: a 10-minute presentation on the techniques to practise, a 10-minute track session, and 10 minutes of instructor feedback to correct mistakes and improve for your next session. A team of flagmen and an official ambulance are present all day.
Phases 2, 3 and 4
The schedule is similar to Phase 1, except that the morning classroom is replaced by a track walk at 8:15 a.m., with instructors commenting on each turn and explaining the techniques to use.
FAST certificate
A FAST Riding School graduation certificate is given after each course. It lets you take part in track day events organized by other organizations, and you may also buy a road racing licence with it if you want a racing career.
